About Ed
Ed always loved making music, especially with a piano or flute, and studied off and on most of his life. While living in the mountains to the west of the Shenandoah Valley, he connected with the local blacksmith group, and immersed so deeply that he quit his computer programming job to forge full time. As a kid, he discovered his dad’s small wood lathe and without guidance or permission, started turning, including making most of a chess set. As an adult, he reconnected with this love of turning and, with Betsy, joined the Shenandoah Valley woodturners, “turning” all the magnificent hardwoods of Appalachia into round things of beauty. When he moved full-time to Minnesota, his wood and metal shops, and music gear came with him. Through various jobs to keep food on the table, Ed briefly wound up being the de facto graphic designer for the local symphony and fell in love with the visual arts. Very recently, he is proud and happy to call himself a graduate of the Minnesota North College Graphic Design program and built this web site as a final project for that course. Ownership of the site, and co-owner of the business of Bosley Lake Artisans, are dreams come true. If you stop by, you will almost certainly find him immersed in the wood or metal shop, making music, or creating new graphic designs. If it’s creative, he’s all in.
